Aloha O’hana!
Near the end of another day at the MTC! Today was
‘all-you-can-eat’ BYU Creamery ice cream in the cafeteria!! Reece’s Peanut
Butter cup ice cream for lunch and Raspberry Cream Cheese for dinner…we have
got to get out of here!
The ice cream wasn’t the highlight of the day, so I guess we
will stay for a while. Today was our
first practice session of teaching an ‘investigator’ couple about "The
Restoration.” We started with the BRT (Build Relationship of Trust) questions
to get to know them and their background better so we would know how to
approach teaching them. Mom started with
her topic of the Restoration of the Gospel, when the husband asked “Why are you
called Mormons?”
About 40 minutes later, we had covered the first vision,
Christ in the Americas, revelation, the Book of Mormon, the Bible, the Brass
Plates, Prophets, Joseph Smith and a number of other principles. I guess it
went well because they committed to read some selected portions of the Book of
Mormon and invited us to come back next week.
Don’t know if we were that good of missionaries or they were just being
nice to us but it was a good experience! So much for a carefully prepared
mission plan!
Tomorrow, we will again teach an ‘investigator’ as a
follow-up to an earlier commitment by previous missionaries and to teach The
Plan of Salvation. Almost time to work on our ‘plan’ so we will be ready
tomorrow. As always, your prayers are appreciated!
